The Feather

Last night, I sat beside the sea
and let the darkness hear my thoughts.
I gave my worries to the waves,
hoping the tide would take them far away.

But the ocean returned them quietlyโ€”
not as words, not as answers,
but as the same weight I carried
deep inside my chest.

I wondered how small I was
in a world that never seems to stop moving.
People building, achieving, becomingโ€”
while I stood still,
measuring my life against the success of others.

The stars above me were endless,
but they did not make me feel bigger.
They only reminded me
that I was one small person
in a universe that does not slow down for anyone.

For years, I believed truth was a light.
I thought if I searched hard enough,
if I understood enough,
I would finally find the road ahead.

But the more I learned,
the more questions appeared.
Life felt like a game
where the rules were never explained,
and even the right choices
could still leave you lost.

Then morning arrived.

The sky slowly turned from gray to gold,
and a bird landed outside my window.
It was nothing extraordinaryโ€”
no sign from heaven,
no answer to every problem.

It was simply a bird,
resting in the quiet of a new day.

Yet somehow, as the sunlight touched its wings,
I saw something I had forgotten:
even small things can hold beauty,
even ordinary moments can carry meaning.

And without a voice,
it reminded me:

Life will always be difficult.
There will always be things beyond your control.
But the burden you carry is not the measure of who you are.

Some pain must be faced,
some questions may never be answered,
and some battles may take longer than expected.

But a heart that learns to let go
will always have room to breathe.

When the bird finally flew away,
a single feather remained on my windowsill.

I held it in my hand
and realized it was not a miracle,
not a promise that life would become easy.

It was only a featherโ€”
fragile, ordinary, and small.

But maybe that was the lesson.

The things that change us
are not always grand moments or perfect answers.
Sometimes they are quiet reminders
that we are still here,
still trying,
still capable of beginning again.

So I dipped the feather in ink
and wrote my name.

Not because I had found all the answers,
but because I wanted to remember:

I am more than the weight I carry.
I am more than the things I have not achieved.
I am more than the moments that made me doubt myself.

The world may make me feel small,
but even the smallest light
can push back the darkest night.

And as long as I can still choose hope,
still choose kindness,
still choose to riseโ€”

I have not lost my place in this world.
I am still becoming.
I am still here.
And that, in itself, is something worth fighting for.
